What is a ping and what is a ping list?

A “ping” is like ringing a doorbell or knocking at a door. You are letting someone know you are there. When you ping directories online by hitting the publish button you are letting blog directories and the search engines know you just added a new post. When you are active (e.g. post every day) it lets them know you are a serious blogger so they start paying attention to your blog.

The more you are found in the search engines and in blog directories the more visitors you get

Some people believe the bigger the list the better and some don’t. You have to decide that for yourself. If you put “ping list” into the search engines you will find different blogs containing different lists. Blog Directories are like article directories – it’s better to be found by the ones that matter rather than be in a thousand directories that get no traffic!

It’s up to you what you want to use. I have provided you with a few but you can add as many as you like

How do I add a ping list to my wordpress blog?

To add this list of ping directories to your wordpress blog first log in, then select SETTINGS, under settings click on WRITING and scroll down and you will see a list of one or two already added under UPDATE SERVICES. You can add the others there.
